A motivational true story of SonderMind and SonderCenters Cofounder Sean Boyd
My Best Healer Podcast had the pleasure to meet with Sean Boyd the confounder of sondermind / sondercenters. and here is a brief intro about him. To those of you who I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet my name is Sean Boyd. I'm the Co-Founder of SonderCenters and sounder mind. I'm writing this message to check in personally and to share some new developments and requesting your feedback, introductions, and engagement.
To get straight to it we as a business have reached the point in our development where we have been able to take a step back from the day to day operations and revisit the mission that inspired this company to begin with - to redesign the mental health industry to be more accessible, approachable and better utilized.
In the process of reviewing the progress we have made in the past 6 months and beyond we have also taken a serious look at where we have fallen short. Communication was a central theme when we were in our infancy as a company. I know that I relied heavily on our community and the sense of belonging it provided as we navigated the waters of growing a company set out to disrupt the industry.
Unfortunately, communication is nowhere near what it was or can be.
While it has not been our intention to transition so much of our attention to the nuts and bolts of the business it has become a consistent message we receive from the community that communication can and should improve.
We would like to do our part to change this. We would also like to ask for your help.
To that end let's start with some introductions.
My name is Sean Boyd. I'm married to a beautiful and talented woman named Esther and together we have two beautiful little boys named Lincoln (3) and Jackson (2). My family is the source of my strength and offers me very real support while taking on this mission. These two little boys also offer their own set of challenges as they can be and most of the time are a true handful with all of their energy at times. Every day is an adventure.
I was born and raised in Colorado. I received all of my education here in Colorado including a masters degree in counseling from Regis University in 2009. I worked for about seven years at a treatment center for children and adolescents. When I finished my degree I launched a practice and did so while building a community of others who wanted to do the same. In 2012 I came to a fork in the road as I found myself meeting with as many mental health professionals each week as I did clients attempting to help them get their start in private practice. I asked myself the question, "do I want to continue supporting clients and therapists one by one or do I want to take what I have learned and create a business where I may be able to achieve a societal impact?"
When I realized the potential for having a bigger impact my mind and heart quickly fell in love with making a commitment to discontinue accepting new clients, not renewing my lease for my apartment and literally moving into my office location as I figure out how to take this idea to the next level.
